(May 10, 2013) – Portland, Oregon-based SeaPort Airlines, Inc. announced today that Mr. Bruce Berning and Mr. Patrick Zachwieja have been appointed to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Berning is a partner in Tonkon Torp LLP Attorneys in Portland and has over thirty years of board business and corporate law experience. He presently serves as general counsel for Banfield Pet Hospital, which has grown from a single veterinary hospital to over 800 locations in 44 states, and serves numerous other prominent companies. Mr. Berning has represented banks and lending institutions, and is recognized as a leader in Banking and Finance law by the “Best Lawyers in America.” Previously, he served on the Board of Directors of the Oregon Zoo Foundation and Portland Parks Foundation. Mr. Berning holds an A.B., Economics from Indiana University and graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School. He resides in the Portland area with his wife Marci and two feisty fox terriers. Mr. Berning and his wife have two sons, one working as a hospital chaplain and residing in New York City, and the other working as a CPA in San Francisco.
Mr. Zachwieja is the Marketing Director at the Business Enterprise Institute in Louisville, Colorado, where he is responsible for strategic and tactical marketing activities, and management of strategic alliances and partner relationships. No stranger to the aviation industry, Mr. Zachwieja was Vice President of Market Planning for Frontier Airlines from 2007 – 2008 and Vice President of Marketing and Planning at Alaska Airlines-subsidiary, Horizon Air, for twelve years. Mr. Zachwieja graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Graphic Communications from California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo and a Master of Science in Management at Marylhurst University. A resident of Boulder, Colorado, Mr. Zachwieja enjoys spending time with his family, golf, snowboarding and travel.
Mr. Berning and Mr. Zachwieja join current board members John Beardsley (Chairman), Donna Blake, Tom Carollo, and Rob McKinney (President).
